Both novel adsorption and membrane processes are being developed for gas separation and purification to meet the needs of new energy economy and stringent environmental regulations. The primary focus of current research efforts is hydrogen production and purification. The following are a short list of interested projects:

•  Ceramic membrane reactor for combined hydrogen production and carbon dioxide sequestration

•  Sulfur and carbon monoxide tolerant membranes for hydrogen separation

•  Ceramic membrane reactor for sulfuric acid decomposition in the sulfur-iodine cycle

•  Ceramic membrane reactor for hydrogen iodine decomposition in the sulfur-iodine cycle

•  Pressure swing adsorption process for biogas pretreatment

•  Adsorption process for carbon monoxide removal from hydrogen
